AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin Police say a suspect is in custody after a SWAT standoff and reports of a man with a weapon on State Highway 71 in Del Valle.
According to police, calls came in just after 9 a.m. Monday morning, reporting a man shooting a gun into the air and pointing it at traffic. Police responded to the scene, at which point the man fled into a wooded area.
SWAT officers eventually took the man into custody, who has been identified as 51-year old Junius Harrell. He'll face a charge of felon in possession of a firearm, a third-degree felony.
The SWAT situation prompted closures along State Highway 71 near FM 973, prompting traffic delays for passengers headed to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
Residents near the area were told to shelter-in-place with a reverse 911 call.
