AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- A Travis County grand jury on Friday returned three indictments against a man labeled as a "serial killer" by law enforcement officials.

The grand jury indicted 62-year old Raul Meza, Jr., on one count of Capital Murder and a second count of Murder in the death of 65-year old Gloria Lofton in 2019. Meza was also indicted on a charge of Murder and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in connection with the death of 80-year old Jesse Fraga.

The indictments follow Meza's arrest in May, after he called Austin 311 and told an officer that he had killed Fraga - along with implicating himself in Lofton's death. He was taken into custody on May 29 by members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force in connection with Fraga's death.

APD officials say they believe Meza could be connected to as many as 8-10 additional cold cases that the department is still investigating.

Meza has a lengthy criminal history, including a 1982 case where Meza plead guilty to the rape and murder of 8-year old Kendra Page at a southeast Austin elementary school. He served 11 years of a 30-year sentence before being released from prison in 1993.

He was arrested again in 1994 for a parole violation and was released again in 2016.

Meza remains booked in the Travis County Jail.
