Three auto-pedestrian crashes overnight leave 2 dead, 1 critically injured

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Three separate auto-pedestrian crashes overnight led to the deaths of two pedestrians, with a third being sent to the hospital with critical injuries, officials said.

The first crash was reported around 11 p.m. Friday night near the 11800 block of North Lamar Boulevard, north of Braker Lane.

Austin-Travis County EMS says medics were performing "extensive" resuscitation efforts, but the victim ultimately succumbed to their injuries.

In the second crash, a person was hit and killed on the southbound lanes of Interstate 35 near U.S. 183 around 1:20 a.m. Saturday morning.

A third auto-pedestrian crash was reported just after 2:15 a.m. at Northeast Drive and Springdale Road. According to ATCEMS, the victim was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center with critical, life-threatening injuries.

Based on data from Austin Police, at least 23 people have been killed on Austin's roadways this year in 22 fatal crashes.
