AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Three people were injured Saturday night after a crash resulting from one of a series of "street takeover" events across Austin, officials said.
Officers with the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Austin Police Department responded to a north Austin Target store in the 8600 block of Research Boulevard around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night. A 911 caller reported dozens of vehicles gathering in the store's parking lot.
DPS officials said that as troopers responded to the scene, they found a Mustang speeding with its headlights turned off. Troopers began to pursue the vehicle. After a short chase, the Mustang crashed into a Toyota at the intersection of Payton Gin and Ohlen Road.
Three people were sent to the hospital from that crash, two from the Toyota and the driver of the Mustang.
