AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- First responders are on the scene of a train derailment just east of downtown Austin Tuesday morning, with that scene not expected to be cleared until later this afternoon.
According to Austin Fire officials, the derailment happened around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of East Sixth Street and Robert T. Martinez Jr. Street.
A total of seven cars derailed, officials said. Two of those were carrying gravel, while five others were empty. The entire train was 90 cars long.

Austin Energy was working to restore power in the immediate area after one of the derailed cars hit a power pole. About 300 customers were left without power; crews were working to de-energize lines in the derailment area and restore power to affected customers.
Officials say it may take until 5 p.m. to fully clear the derailment.
