Victim identified in deadly multi-vehicle crash near Interstate 35, U.S. 183

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin Police have identified the victim in a deadly crash on Interstate 35 more than a week ago, the eighth fatal traffic crash of the year in the city.

Police say 26-year old Denyse Jaimes-Olmos was killed in the multiple-vehicle crash on Interstate 35 near U.S. 183 early on the morning of Saturday, Jan. 30. When police arrived at the scene just before 2:30 a.m., they found multiple vehicles involved and found Jaimes-Olmos lying in the roadway.

According to the investigation, Jaimes-Olmos was traveling northbound on I-35 when she crashed into a barricade on the outside shoulder of the highway. Her vehicle then slid across the mainlanes of the highway, coming to a stop in the inside lane. A second vehicle then crashed into her, causing Jaimes-Olmos to fall into the roadway. A third vehicle then struck Jaimes-Olmos.

Jaimes-Olmos was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle suffered non-life threatening injuries, and no injuries were reported from the third vehicle.

Anyone with information on the crash is urged to call APD's Vehicular Homicide detectives at 512-974-6935.
