AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Although the freezing temperatures and winter precipitation are gone, the effects and impacts of last week's extreme winter weather will continue to be a challenge for many Austinites for days and weeks to come.
The City of Austin is working to match volunteers with ways to help those who need it in the wake of last week's winter weather. You can sign up online to receive alerts for volunteer opportunities as they arise, including shelter and travel support but will also include clean-up efforts and other opportunities later. Officials say more than 1,600 volunteers have signed up so far.
Other opportunities are available on the city's website, which contains information from the Austin Disaster Relief Network and Travis County.
