PFLUGERVILLE, Texas (Talk1370.com) -- City officials confirmed Tuesday that a 30-inch waterline under repair has suffered its fifth break since last fall, completely halting the water flow to Lake Pflugerville.
As the city's primary water source continues to dwindle, residents are being urged to immediately slash their water usage to avoid harsher penalties.
Under current Stage 3 emergency restrictions, outdoor watering is strictly prohibited except for foundation maintenance. The city warned Friday that rising consumption is already threatening the supply. "Failure to increase water conservation may lead to further water restrictions," the city’s website stated.
While a new 24-inch bypass pipeline began supplementing the lake last week, it is currently unclear if that system remains operational following this latest break.
Officials noted that Stage 3 restrictions will likely remain in place for at least 60 days until the lake returns to a depth of 19 feet.
