AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Expected gusty north winds and bitter cold temperatures have prompted city officials to close the Trail of Lights for the second time this week Thursday night.
City officials announced the decision late Wednesday. An Arctic cold front will move into the area Thursday, sending temperatures below freezing by the afternoon and into the lower teens by early Friday morning.
Heavy rains on Monday caused deteriorated park conditions that prompted officials to close the Trail ahead of Tuesday night's event as well.
Anyone who had purchased a ticket for Thursday night will be automatically refunded, organizers said.
Officials say they hope that conditions will allow the Trail to re-open for its final night of the 2022 season Friday night, once crews can assess park conditions Friday morning.
