WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas (Talk1370.com) -- Williamson County Commissioners on Tuesday gave their approval to a $5 million settlement in a wrongful death lawsuit brought by the family of Javier Ambler.

Ambler died while in the custody of Williamson County Sheriff's deputies in March 2019, following a police chase that began after deputies said Ambler failed to dim his headlights. The chase lasted more than 20 minutes and ended in north Austin.

Body camera footage from the Austin Police Department showed 36-year old James Johnson and 26-year old Zachary Camden use their TASERs on Ambler, who could be heard telling the deputies "I can't breathe" while he was laying face down on the road. He died a few minutes later; Johnson and Camden are both facing manslaughter charges

Camera crews from the reality series "Live PD" were on the scene filming.

According to a tweet from the county, $1.6 million of the settlement will be paid with county funds, while the remainder will come from the county's insurance carrier.
