AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Willie Nelson, one of the enduring patriarchs of Texas music, is set to bring his storied Independence Day celebration back to Central Texas again this summer.

Organizers announced Monday that the 2026 edition of the 4th of July Picnic and Fireworks is scheduled to take place at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater.

The event, a cultural institution founded by Nelson in 1973, continues its tradition of blending outlaw country with contemporary stars. This year’s roster is particularly deep, featuring bluegrass virtuoso Billy Strings, indie-rock stalwarts Wilco, and pop-rock veteran Sheryl Crow.

“Get ready Austin because this year is going to be the best Picnic yet,” Nelson said in a statement released with the announcement. “I am looking forward to seeing all my Austin friends... it is going to be one hell of a time.”

Joining the headliners on the bill are Lukas Nelson, Margo Price, Rodney Crowell, Stephen Wilson, Jr., and Lily Meola. The day-long festival is expected to provide upwards of eight hours of live performances.

The Picnic has occupied several homes across the state over the decades, but its return to the Austin area remains a high point for local fans. In keeping with the holiday spirit, the musical marathon will be accompanied by a variety of food and beverage concessions, culminating in a traditional fireworks display following the final set.

Tickets for the event are scheduled to go on sale to the general public Friday, March 27, at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster.
