After spending the day in the 40s on Sunday, temperatures will drop into the lower 20s by Monday morning - even some teens possible across the area. Wind chill readings will be dangerously cold, falling into the lower teens.
Precipitation chances begin to ramp up Monday evening. Much of the Austin metro is expected to see a mix of snow and sleet, while areas along and south of Interstate 10 are expected to see more of a wintry mix including freezing rain.
Accumulation is expected to be light, with current forecast models showing much of the metro area seeing accumulations up to two inches. Higher totals are expected further to the east of the I-35 corridor. Lows Monday night are expected to fall into the mid 20s.
Precipitation is expected to come to an end Tuesday morning, with afternoon highs rebounding to just above the freezing mark in the mid 30s. Another hard freeze area wide is expected Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, with lows falling into the lower 20s and upper teens.
A warming trend begins Wednesday into the weekend.
