American Airlines pilots have a much sweeter deal to vote on today after the airline tossed another Billion dollars on the table.
American has increased the value of its pilot contract offer, bringing it closer to United Airlines' more generous deal. The total contract value for both airlines is now $9 billion over four years.
American has informed pilots that it will match the rates and retroactive pay outlined in United's tentative agreement from July 15th. The updated contract also includes increased life insurance and extended sick leave for pilots.
The union representing American's pilots called for changes to the contract following United's agreement. The pilots were scheduled to vote on the updated agreement today and management's negotiators made the changes quickly to ensure ratification would not be jeopardized.
