Texas Democratic Congressman Colin Allred (TX-32) is now running for the US Senate and he's announced he's challenging Ted Cruz.
Allred posted the official video on his campaign youtube channel Wednesday morning saying that he is running for the Senate.
"I’m running for U.S. Senate because Texans deserve a Senator whose team is Texas. Ted Cruz only cares about himself" said Allred in a social media post.
Allred was first elected to the US House in 2019, beating Republican Pete Sessions. He's the first Democrat to announce a campaign and would have to win a primary for the nomination.
Ted Cruz won a second term in 2018, beating Democrat Robert 'Beto' O'Rourke by at least 2.5 percentage points.
