Dallas Democrat and former U.S. Rep. Colin Allred announced today he's running for U.S. Senate, aiming to unseat Republican incumbent John Cornyn.

In a campaign-launch video, Allred sharply criticized both Cornyn and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, promising to fight corruption and bring relief to Texans weighed down by rising costs.

Allred’s candidacy marks his second statewide run following his 2024 challenge against Sen. Ted Cruz, where he fell short by nearly nine percentage points.

Despite that loss, he remains the Democrats’ highest-profile contender so far for 2026, amplifying hopes of winning a Texas Senate seat amid ongoing GOP turmoil—including the bitter Cornyn–Paxton primary battle.
