SAN MARCOS, Texas (Talk1370.com) -- There has been more criticism about the response from law enforcement during the Uvalde elementary school shooting in May.
A new report from the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training Center at Texas State University in San Marcos shows that law enforcement responding to the scene missed three chances to slow the gunman before he shot and killed 19 students and two teachers.
According to the report, a Uvalde officer armed with a rifle had a chance to take the 18-year-old gunman out before he entered the school. Instead he waited for permission from a supervisor which never came.
Additionally the report suggests officers who tried to stop the gunman "lost momentum" after taking fire as they waited for more weapons, including tear gas, to arrive at the scene.
The report also suggests the officers could have breached the classroom through windows or sheetrock instead of waiting an hour to enter.
The final analysis concludes lives could have been saved had they gotten medical attention sooner.
