This month alone officials say nearly 123,000 acres have burned across the state, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service.

With hot south winds expected to gust up to 25 and better today, conditions are ripe for more fires. On Sunday grassland near Weatherford burned. Four people had to get out fast when one fire threatened their home.

The hardest-hit area is Eastland County between Abilene and Fort Worth where more than 54,000 acres have burned but the fire is about 90 percent contained.

Over the weekend, the focus turned to the DasGoatFire in Medina County west of San Antonio.

Governor Abbott signed a disaster declaration for Medina County Sunday.

A massive wildfire on Fort Hood property prompted an evacuation order in Coryell County. The fire named the Crittenburg Complex was reported Sunday afternoon on the northern edge of the post's property. It's estimated at more than 17,00 acres with zero containment.

Dry conditions and high temperatures will pose a risk for "significant fires" through Wednesday in the Western and Eastern Hill Country, South Texas, the Rolling Plains, Cross Timbers, Southern Plains and Trans Pecos.
