One person has died in a Fort Worth apartment fire that is still under investigation.

Officials ay the fire began Monday around 7:00 p.m. with flames erupting through the roof of a three-story building at the complex called The Hub at Chisolm Trail near Hulen Street and Granbury Road.

The fire had a big head start and the building was burning fiercely when firefighters arrived.

Many people had already evacuated, but firefighters checked for others inside to make sure.

About three dozen people were chased from their homes.

The choking black smoke was dense in the parking lot until the fire was brought under control about 8:15 p.m.
