The Paris school board has a novel work-around as the district's desire to have a mask mandate clashes with Governor Abbott's executive order saying "no."

School districts around Texas are trying whatever they can to circumvent the Governor's order including lawsuits and simple defiance. But this may be a new one.

Paris ISD trustees are going to make wearing a mask part of the district's dress code.

Trustees have already amended the code to that effect, saying the Texas Governor, "does not have the authority to usurp the Board of Trustees exclusive power and duty to govern and oversee the management of the public schools in the district."

Paris ISD schools open tomorrow. There's no word if the Governor or Attorney General will respond to the Paris trustees gambit.
