President Biden is expected to land at Naval Air Station Fort Worth Tuesday afternoon ahead of his remarks at the Tarrant County Resource Connection where he's expected to discuss expanding health care and other benefits to veterans.
Before his talk he's also scheduled to visit the nearby Fort Worth V.A. clinic where he'll hear more about health services for veterans.
Biden is expected to speak at 3:30 p.m.
In last week's State of the Union address, Biden raised the prospect of whether being near the chemicals from burn pits in Iraq led to the death of his son Beau, as reported by the Associated Press.
“We don’t know for sure if a burn pit was the cause of his brain cancer or the diseases of so many of our troops,” Biden said in the speech. “But I’m committed to finding out everything we can.”
Biden will also call on Congress to send him a bill that protects veterans who face health consequences after burn pit exposure. The House last week passed a bill that would provide VA health care to millions of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans who meet that criteria, says the AP.
The President is expected to arrive at the Naval Air Station around 1:00 p.m. (CST). The military hospital installation is nearly 15 miles from the V.A. Clinic but it's not clear what route the presidential motorcade will take, its impact on traffic won't be known until closer to the President's arrival.
