Texas Sen. Angela Paxton (R-McKinney) filed for divorce on Thursday from the state's Attorney General Ken Paxton, according to Collin County court records.

Angela Paxton says she filed for divorce "on biblical grounds" and "in light of recent discoveries."

Angela and Ken Paxton have been married for 38 years, according to a social media post by Angela Paxton.

The Republican-led Texas House of Representatives impeached Ken Paxton in 2023 on 20 articles, including bribery and misusing the powers of his office.

House impeachment managers argued many of the accusations were aimed at trying to cover up a reported affair. The Texas Senate ultimately voted to acquit Paxton.

Ken Paxton has served as Texas Attorney General since 2016 and is running to become the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in 2026. Angela Paxton has served as a state senator since 2019.
