AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- The third Special Session of the Texas Legislature will not be a win for Texas Governor Greg Abbott as the session wraps today without agreements on school vouchers or border security.
Republican Lt. Governor Dan Patrick has been at home sick with pneumonia and is strongly playing the blame game for the failure of the 3rd special session, saying it was caused by Republican House Speaker Dade Phelan’s failed leadership and failures to advance serious legislation.
Phelan has fired back that Patrick’s statement is a desperate bid to salvage what’s left of his credibility on border security.
The Texas House and Texas Senate differed greatly on immigration enforcement, whether to arrest migrants or send them back across the border.
And the House’s latest attempt at school vouchers is gaining support from rural Republicans, but it’s going to take a 4th Special Session for it to come up for a vote.
