Texas energy leaders say a return to a Trump presidency could bring significant changes to the energy sector, a pillar of the state’s economy.

Todd Staples, president of the Texas Oil and Gas Association, expressed optimism about a potential shift, noting that the Biden administration’s green energy policies had hurt the fossil fuel industry.

"We saw that pipelines were canceled, we saw drilling in Alaska was revoked, we saw LEG permits paused," Staples said.

On the campaign trail, former President Donald Trump has pledged to increase domestic oil and gas production, expand offshore drilling, and withdraw the U.S. from the Paris climate agreement. The proposed changes have generated strong support from fossil fuel advocates who believe the policies will bolster industry growth in Texas and nationwide.
