As the Texas legislature's stand-off continues into a fifth day, the speaker of the Texas House Republican Dade Phelan, is firing a shot across the bow of Democrats.
The Texas House democrats fled the state this week and remain in Washington D.C. as a means of stalling debate on an election reform measure backed by the GOP, including Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
Yesterday, Phelan tweeted "in an effort to further compel House Democrats to return to the State of Texas, I am chartering a plane that will be on standby in Washington DC on Saturday."
He concludes by saying "the State of Texas is waiting."
Most political observers acknowledge there is little to no chance the House Democrats will take Phelan up on his offer.
