Texas to expand medical marijuana use

Medical marijuana

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com/NewsRadio 1080 KRLD) -- Starting September 1st, more Texans will have legal access to medical marijuana.

A new law will expand the state's "compassionate use" program, and allow those with PTSD, cancer, and those who suffer from chronic pain to consume marijuana for medicinal purposes.

However, across the state, only about 300 doctors are approved to even prescribe medical marijuana.

Doctors first have to register with the state before they can even prescribe it.

Physicians hope that once the new law goes into effect, more doctors will register with the state so that they can prescribe medical marijuana to those patients who need it most.
