The Chair of the Public Utility Commission has resigned.

DeeAnn Walker submitted her letter to the Governor today saying it's in the best interest of the state.

She says Texas was devastated by a tremendous and horrific event.

She says she stands proud that she worked endless hours over the past few weeks to return electric power to the grid.  Walker says - despite the treatment she received from some legislators, she's proud she spoke the truth.

Earlier today Lt. Governor Dan Patrick called for both her resignation, as well as the CEO of ERCOT.

Below is a quote that is attributable to Governor Greg Abbot's Press Secretary, Renae Eze:

“The Governor thanks Chairman Walker for her years of service to the State of Texas. Our focus is to continue working collaboratively with the Legislature on reforms to our power system and look forward to passing lasting and meaningful solutions to ensure these tragic events are never repeated.”

This is a developing story. Come back for updates.
