(SportsRadio 610) -- Astros third baseman Alex Bregman is dealing with a slight tweak in his hamstring, which is keeping him from working out with the team at spring training, manager Dusty Baker said Wednesday morning.
Bregman has dealt with hamstring issues in the past, as recently as last season when he was on the injured list from Aug. 20 to Sept. 8.
Baker said the team wants to be careful with Bregman to avoid a repeat of last season's hamstring issues.
Bregman at that time expressed frustration about the injury, and on Monday told reporters he felt weak last season, both physically and mentally.
"We want to take him slow because we want the same thing to happen this year that happened last year, or in the previous years," Baker said.
Yordan Alvarez, the American League Rookie of the Year in 2019 who is returning from knee surgery, is also missing from workouts as part of his post-surgery plan, Baker said.
Bregman on Monday also expressed excitement to see "the big man back."
