HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- Astros All-Star Yordan Alvarez said his sprained right knee felt better, but he's still dealing with inflammation that must go away before he can return to the lineup.

"I was able to walk today better than yesterday, but that's the only difference I felt," Alvarez said before Tuesday's game against the Seattle Mariners. "Yesterday, I wasn't able to move the knee as much, and I wasn't able to put much weight on it. Today, I can put a little more weight on it."

Alvarez sprained his knee sliding into second base in the third inning of the Astros 9-8 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday. He's been ruled out of action through Wednesday but didn't sound overly confident he'd be able to play in Cleveland this weekend.

"I hope so," Alvarez said. "I don't know. I wish I was taking at bats here today, but time is gonna what is gonna decide if I'm able to play or not."

Alvarez is currently in the rest/treatment portion of the rehab process. He must remain on the active roster through the end of the regular season because a stint on the injured list would end after game two of next week's wild card series.

When asked if he was confident he'd be able to play in a postseason series next week, Alvarez was non-committal.

"I don't know. I wish I knew what was gonna happen in the next few days. I had a vision it was gonna happen in the next few days, but we need to wait for the inflammation to go down and go from there."

Named to his third consecutive American League All-Star team, Alvarez is the Astros team leader in batting average (.305), home runs (35), and RBI (86) this season, while playing in a career-high 147 games.
