(SportsRadio 610) - The Astros declined their mutual option for Trey Mancini and club option for Will Smith next season, the team announced Wednesday.
Mancini was set to make $10 million on the mutual option, but is now a free agent this offseason. Smith was set to make $13 million next season.
Both players were acquired by the Astros ahead of the trade deadline. Smith had been an integral part of the Atlanta Braves team that beat Houston in the World Series the previous year.
Mancini slashed just .176/.258/.364 in 51 regular season games with the Astros. He went 1-for-21 in the postseason. Smith was the Astros' only left-handed reliever down the stretch, but did not make the ALDS or ALCS rosters, or pitch in the World Series against Philadelphia.
