Astros left fielder Michael Brantley has been placed on the injured list right knee soreness, manager Dusty Baker said Wednesday.
Brantley left after three innings of last Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Angels with discomfort in the knee and has not played since.
Brantley's time on the injured list will be retroactive three days.
When asked, Baker said the knee had not worsened, but the staff thought it would be better to make sure Brantley is healthy as the Astros make their postseason push. Brantley is hitting .315, which ranks second in American League batting average.
The Astros (84-60) hold a 6 1/2 game lead over the Seattle Mariners in the American League West going into Wednesday's game at the Texas Rangers.
