(SportsRadio 610) - The Houston Astros have announced that the entire Major League coaching staff is returning for the 2023 season.
The group has played an integral part in the Astros run of dominance since 2017.
Three members returning this season have been with the club throughout the stretch which includes six consecutive appearances in the American League Championship Series, four World Series appearances and the two titles captured since 2017.
The longest tenured member of the staff, third base coach Gary Pettis will return for his ninth season in Houston. Hitting coach Alex Cintron will enter his seventh season with the staff while bench coach Joe Espada returns for his sixth season.
Both pitching coach Josh Miller and hitting coach Troy Snitker enter their fifth year on the staff, while first base coach Omar Lopez and Major League coach Michael Collins return for their fourth season.
Quality assurance coach Dana Firova and pitching coach Bill Murphy are each entering their third year with the club, while Jason Kanzler who joined the staff as a major league coach returns for his second season, serving as an additional hitting coach with the Astros this upcoming season.
The Astros have made one addition to the staff.
Tommy Kawamura, is moving from the baseball operations staff to the coaching staff as their game planning coach.
Kawamura had served as the Astros manager of advanced scouting for the past several seasons.
Manager Dusty Baker signed a one-year deal last month to remain with the Astros, just four days removed from capturing his first World Series title as a Major League manager.
