HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610) -- For the first time since Game 7 of the 2019 World Series, the Astros will welcome full capacity crowds at Minute Maid Park.
The 2020 season was delayed and cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic. In the shortened 60-game season, no crowds were allowed at Minute Maid.
So far this season, the Astros have played in front of limited capacity crowds, no more than about 26,000 at a game.
Now, the full 41,168-seat ballpark can be utilized, the Astros announced Monday afternoon.
The Astros will no longer required masks at Minute Maid for fans who have been fully vaccinated, in accordance with CDC and Major League Baseball guidelines. Fans who are not fully vaccinated are encouraged to continue to wear masks, which will be available as they enter the ballpark.
Astros employees and game day staff will be required to provide proof of vaccination prior to removing their masks, though the same is not required of fans.
The team's minor league affiliates in Sugar Land, Corpus Christi and Fayetteville will also move to full capacity for the rest of the season.
Tickets for Astros games are on sale through June 3 and the team has made more tickets available for full capacity. Single game tickets for all games past June 3 will become available for the first time May 28.
