AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin's new Major League Soccer franchise announced a new television partnership Tuesday, giving fans across the city access to all of the club's regional telecasts.
The CW Austin (KNVA-TV) will serve as the club's flagship English language home for the 2021 and 2022 seasons, with sister stations KXAN-TV and KBVO-TV picking up the remaining regional broadcasts not aired on KNVA. All three of the stations are managed by Irving-based Nexstar Media Group, and all of the regional telecasts will be presented in high-definition.
"The depth of HD channel distribution for each of the three English language stations across the Austin region will ensure that 100% of Austin FC fans with televisions will have the opportunity to tune-into 100% of all regionally televised regular season matches," Austin FC President Andy Loughnane said in a statement.
Adrian Healey, announced in 2020 by Austin FC as the Club’s English language play-by-play commentator and Executive Director of Broadcast and Content, will lead Austin FC’s on-air English language programming. Healey brings over 25 years of broadcast experience at the highest level, both domestically and internationally, to The CW Austin by way of ESPN. At ESPN he commentated on more MLS matches as the lead play-by-play voice than any other broadcaster in ESPN’s history, with extensive broadcast experience including six MLS Cups, three FIFA World Cup Finals, two FIFA Women’s World Cup Finals, five UEFA Champions League Finals, three UEFA European Championships, Copa America, and the 2008 Summer Olympic Games.
Both the television schedule and the 2021 MLS schedule are due to be released soon, club officials said.
