(SportsRadio 610) -- Up to this point, Texans CEO Cal McNair has not formally been made available to the media since taking over the role two years ago.

That is scheduled to change Friday afternoon when McNair introduces former Patriots executive Nick Caserio as the Texans' fifth general manager in franchise history.

McNair has spoken before, twice this season to Marc Vandermeer on SportsRadio 610. McNair has also spoken to Texans insider John McClain.

This is the first time he will be available to all of the Texans' credentialed media, who undoubtedly will be curious about his decision to keep executive vice president of football operations Jack Easterby and his influence on the Caserio hire.

Easterby and Caserio worked together for years in New England. And though Caserio spent 20 years helping build six Super Bowl champions with the Patriots, and appears to be a fine candidate for the job, the Easterby connection stands out and is unavoidable.

Cal McNair made the decision to fire Bill O'Brien, but Easterby was considered his partner in the time he acted as general manager. But after O'Brien was fired, McNair named Easterby interim GM.

Hiring Caserio appears to simultaneously empowers Easterby, who is considered partly responsible for the state of a 4-12 franchise despite its elite quarterback. Caserio signed a six-year, $30 million contract to make him among the three highest paid general managers in the NFL.

McNair is finally available to all of those who have questions about these decisions and how the CEO plans to regain public trust.

There is an uneasiness in the building about Easterby's presence, which was documented at length last year by Sports Illustrated.

These issues still exist.

On Thursday, it was reported by ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio that Deshaun Watson has broached with teammates the idea of requesting a trade.

McNair has to answer for this, whether he understands what Watson means when he tells us the organization needs structure and lacks a foundation.

And SportsRadio 610 will carry the press conference live Friday at noon.
