(Talk1370.com) -- Westlake bounced back from its season-opening loss last week with a resounding road victory, overwhelming San Benito 66-0 at Bobby Morrow Stadium Friday night.
After a tight first quarter with a 7-0 lead, the No. 15 Chaparrals unleashed a scoring barrage. Senior quarterback Rees Wise led the charge, with both a rushing and a passing touchdown, including a 15-yard scramble just before halftime. Running back Sebastian Henault was a force, powering his way to three 1-yard touchdowns.
Westlake head coach Tony Salazar praised his team's focus following last week's 29-22 loss to Prosper. “That’s what you get with a good week of work,” he said. “I couldn’t be prouder of our guys who handled business and allowed the younger guys to get in the game.”
Younger players shined as well. Sophomore running back Chase Brodhead scored his first two varsity touchdowns—one on an 8-yard catch and the other on a 42-yard run. Junior running back Jake Wortham also got his first varsity touchdown with a 25-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Westlake (1-1) will hit the road again next week to face No. 8 Humble Atascocita. Kickoff is set for 7pm Friday night; our coverage begins at 6pm with ATX Kickoff on Talk 1370.
