DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - It's official. Dallas Cowboys tight end Dalton Schultz will play under the franchise tag in 2022 after the two sides were unable to agree on an extension by Friday's 3 p.m. deadline.

Schultz will earn $10.93 million this season.

This scenario had been the expected outcome after the two sides hadn't spoken for some time. The 26-year-old already signed his franchise tag, so if he were to sit out in training camp he would incur fines. He skipped OTAs but did attend the team's mandatory minicamp.

Schultz, a fourth-round pick in 2018 out of Stanford, had a career year in 2021, catching 78 passes for 808 yards and eight touchdowns.
