DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence underwent surgery on his foot Thursday morning and will miss "significant time," head coach Mike McCarthy said at his media availability this morning at The Star.

"Obviously, losing DeMarcus, he's a primetime player for us. I thought he had a nice start in Tampa. You hate to see these injuries to any of your guys, but what it does is just give opportunities to other players. How we spread that out will be done through the game plan and we'll work on that (this week in practice)."
According to multiple reports, Lawrence broke the fifth metatarsal in his foot and will be sidelined for the next six to eight weeks. McCarthy said Thursday that Lawrence was injured in a 1-on-1 pass-rush drill.
With Randy Gregory also expected to be out Sunday against the Chargers (COVID protocol), Dallas will be forced to turn to some relatively inexperienced pass rushers, led by veterans Terrell Basham and Dorance Armstrong, with second-year defensive end Bradlee Anae and rookie Chauncey Golston as the reserves.
