DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - After reportedly being "infatuation" with the idea of drafting Florida tight end Kyle Pitts, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones attempted to put an end to that speculation on Tuesday, firmly denying the idea.
While there is an undeniable mutual interest, even to the point of taking the time to virtually interview the former Gator, Jones emphatically denied the idea of allocating the Cowboys' draft assets in that fashion, calling it a "distortion" of his opinion.
“It’s a distortion for this draft and where we are there,” Jones said. “It implies something that’s just not the case. "We’re not going to go in there and spend inordinate value to maneuver up there so we can get Pitts."
With Pitts sitting as one of the most coveted prospects in the entire class, the fact remains that the chances of Pitts falling all the way to No. 10 at Thursday's NFL Draft are slim at best, no matter what Jones's true feelings are.
That said, the interest there, at least in Jones's own previous statements, is still significant.
“Boy, I’ll tell you what,” Jones said to Pitts. “I’m excited to have you come into this league, and man, what a pair up we could do with ole’ Dak Prescott and some of those guys we’ve got out there with options to get you the ball. So, we can dream of visions of sugar plums around here
