DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - At long last, Drew Pearson is a Hall of Famer.
The "Original No. 88" was elected to the 2021 class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday night.
Pearson was the lone senior candidate on the ballot this year.
"I was surprised. I wasn't expecting it because I didn't know they were going to be picking the senior candidate yesterday," Pearson said on Shan and RJ on 105.3 The Fan when he found out he was the senior nominee. "I was just sitting outside, I did a bunch of yard work yesterday morning ... and the phone rang and I saw (it said) Canton, Ohio.
"As soon as I saw Canton, Ohio, on my phone. I started shaking. I started crying. Tears started coming down my face. I know Canton, Ohio ... there ain't much going on in Canton, Ohio. The only thing I know about Canton, Ohio, is the Hall of Fame."
Pearson was previously the only member of the 1970s all-decade team to have not been enshrined into the Hall of Fame.
