Following the combine in Indianapolis, NFL teams are now in the full swing of pro day season. This allows coaches, scouts, and general managers to get a more intimate look at players on their college turf.
One of the more popular schools this draft season is Texas A&M, which held its pro day on Tuesday.
Here are some notes coming out of College Station:
*There was a bit of a stir among Cowboys fans when Aggies OL Kenyon Green told reporters at the combine that he didn’t have a formal interview with Dallas. We learned on Tuesday that Green did get a 30 visit scheduled with the Cowboys, which is much more indicative of a team’s interest. That revelation means Green is very much in play for the Cowboys at pick 24.
*Another player we learned has a 30 visit scheduled with the Cowboys is defensive lineman DeMarvin Leal.
The Cowboys like Leal’s versatility to play both end and tackle. While unlikely to be a name at play for Dallas at 24, he could draw interest in the 2nd round.
*Despite a lot of chatter in recent months about A&M TE Jalen Wydermyer, he did not test particularly well. Wydermyer’s 40-yard dash came in over 5 seconds, and his vertical was only 25½. Several in league circles believe Wydermyer will go undrafted. Wydermyer did impress, however, in the receiving drills.
*Isaiah Spiller is one of the top running backs in the draft, and looked impressive in positional drills.
His 40 time came in a little disappointing, with NFL scouts clocking him at 4.63 on Tuesday.
*The Cowboys had a significant presence in College Station. Four representatives from the organization – including OL coach Joe Philbin, and DL coach Aden Durde – were in attendance, which was tied for the most representation among NFL teams at the Aggie pro day.
