DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs is making an early case as this year’s NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He is currently leading the league in interceptions with six and is arguably the anchor for an improved Cowboys defense that has taken great leaps after being near the bottom of the league in every statistic last season.

Hall of Famer and former Cowboy Troy Aikman had a front-row seat for Dallas' 44-20 win vs. the Giants on Sunday, as he was covering the game for Fox Sports.
Aikman had some high praise for the second-year cornerback, comparing him to arguably the best corner to ever grace the field, 'Prime Time' Deion Sanders.
“This is very Deion Sanders-like,” Aikman said on the broadcast. “I saw this so many times. He lets the guy go to the deep post but he’s got so much confidence in his speed and his make-up ability, that he makes up the speed. You see how he’s able to close the gap. And then he’s like a wide receiver.”

Diggs, who was a wide receiver when he first started playing for Nick Saban at Alabama, is on a tear with an interception in each of the five Cowboys' games this season. The last Cowboy to do that was Don Bishop back in 1961.
Outside of the addition of Micah Parsons, Diggs helped transform the entire Dallas defense. Thanks to them, the Cowboys are 4-1 with a two-game division lead over the Washington Football Team and the Philadelphia Eagles. Next week, the Cowboys head to Foxboro to take on the New England Patriots and Diggs' former Bama teammate Mac Jones.
