(SportsRadio 610) -- Two of the Astros' starting pitchers are returning to the rotation for this weekend's series against the San Diego Padres.
Lefty Framber Valdez, who had been rehabbing from a broken left ring finger since his first spring training start in March, will take the mound for Houston on Friday.
Right-hander Jake Odorizzi, who the Astros signed in the aftermath of Valdez's injury but suffered his own right pronator muscle strain earlier this season, takes the mound for Houston on Saturday.
The additions are welcomed, considering it allows Cristian Javier to move to the bullpen, which has struggled. Starter Lance McCullers Jr. is also dealing with shoulder soreness and was placed on the 10-day injured list.
Valdez and Odorizzi were impressive in their rehab starts for the Class AAA Sugar Land Skeeters.
When MLB Network's Robert Flores joined Clint Stoerner and "The Show" last week, he said Valdez and Odorizzi could hold the key to the Astros' season outlooks this season.
