HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- Trevor Lawrence didn't lose a regular season game in four years at Cartersville High School and then went undefeated in the regular season while at Clemson, but that impressive run ended when he lost his NFL debut to the Texans, 37-21, on Sunday afternoon at NRG Stadium.

"It leaves a bad taste in your mouth when you don't win," Lawrence said. "It's a cool experience (to play an NFL game), but when you don't win the game it's not a good feeling."

The first overall pick of April's draft completed 28-of-51 passes for 332 yards and three touchdowns, but he also threw three interceptions, which is what stuck out to him the most.

"You're not gonna win many games with three turnovers, especially when the margin was minus-three for us."

Lawrence's first two interceptions came on back-to-back possessions in the second quarter. He over-shot Devin Smith and the ball found the arms of Justin Reid.

"The first pick was just a bad throw," he said. "We had them, scramble drill. I had Devin right there, he did a good job and I threw it inside too much, so that was just a bad throw."

Jacksonville's next possession ended when Lawrence tried to hit D.J. Chark deep along the sideline when Vernon Hargreaves snatched the ball and returned it to the Jaguars' seven-yard line.

"They ran cover-two, and I tried to throw a corner ball in there, and the corner was dropping and (I) should've of just checked it down."

His final interception came in the fourth quarter with the Texans already leading 37-14. Christian Kirksey picked off a pass in the middle of the field that was intended for Laviska Shenault Jr, which Lawrence called a bad decision.

"It's either a bad throw or bad decision when you throw a pick, and bad decisions, those are the ones that'll get you for sure."

Lawrence said Sunday was the first three interception game of his life.

"I'm kind of a perfectionist, so it's frustrating just because I did some things that I don't normally do, and just (made) some bad decisions that I'm disappointed in, but it's part of the learning process, and if you use it to learn, then it's all good, and we'll get better, but gotta get better. For sure."

Trevor Lawrence will get a second shot at the Texans this season, but he'll have to wait awhile to get it. The teams aren't scheduled to play again until December 19 in Jacksonville.
