Lammey, a longtime sports radio personality and co-host of “Dover and Cecil,” that airs M-F on Denver Sports 104.3 The Fan, offered an optimistic forecast for the Dallas Cowboys. He pointed to quarterback Dak Prescott and a talent-rich offensive unit capable of scoring on any opponent, complemented by defensive additions like veteran pass rusher Von Miller and rookie defensive back Caleb Downs. Lammey suggested the Cowboys have the firepower to win the NFC East and potentially contend for a Super Bowl appearance.
Cecil also evaluated the Houston Texans as legitimate postseason contenders, pointing to their elite defense as the primary foundation for a potential championship run. He noted that the team's ceiling hinges on quarterback C.J. Stroud regaining his form after a volatile previous season. Lammey highlighted the offseason acquisition of running back David Montgomery to stabilize the ground game alongside wide receiver Kayshon Boutte to bolster the passing attack. Despite divisional competition from Jacksonville, Lammey asserted that Houston possesses the talent required to compete at an AFC Championship level.
In the AFC West, Lammey described a competitive three-team race between the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, and Los Angeles Chargers. He highlighted Denver’s defense and rising quarterback Bo Nix following their strong previous campaign, while questioning whether Kansas City can regain its dominant form as Patrick Mahomes returns from a knee injury alongside new addition Kenneth Walker.
Addressing the rest of the league's divisional matchups, Lammey tabbed the Buffalo Bills to take the AFC East under offensive coordinator Joe Brady, casting doubt on whether Drake Maye and the New England Patriots can replicate their past success. Lammey selected the Cincinnati Bengals as his choice for the AFC North, citing their high-powered offense.
For the remaining NFC divisions, Lammey projected the Carolina Panthers as a surprise contender to win the NFC South behind quarterback Bryce Young and receiver Tetairoa McMillan. In the NFC North, he warned against overlooking the Green Bay Packers despite heavy public attention on the Chicago Bears.
