DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Just one week after the NBA Trade Deadline has passed, newly acquired Dallas Mavericks sharpshooter JJ Redick is set to join the team by this Friday, the 36-year old announced on his podcast.
"I will be with the team this week in New York," Redick said on the Old Man & The Three podcast. "They're coming through, and I've been testing every day. So, the plan is to see them on Thursday and I'll be at the game Friday at the Garden."
Redick, who has been out since the beginning of March with a heel injury, also confirmed that he had an injection on to help in his recovery, and is still a ways away from seeing action on the court.
"Beyond that, I don't really have a full timetable because I am still rehabbing my heel and my Achilles from my injection, and I've been on the court for the last eight or nine days doing work. I feel like I'm progressing, but I'm probably a little ways away from playing."
Redick, 36, is averaging 8.7 points per game on 40.7 percent shooting from the field and 36.4 percent shooting from the three-point range in 31 games this season for New Orleans.
Over the last 15 games, however, Redick was on a true hot streak, shooting 46.4-percent from beyond the arc over that time.
Whenever Redick is able to return to the lineup, it will be a welcome addition for the Mavs, who rank 15th in the NBA in three-point percentage, despite shooting the fifth most threes in the league per game.
