DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Jerry Jones must not be like all Cowboys fans.
During his visit with the media Monday, special teams coordinator John Fassel defended his decision to send the house after Chargers punter Ty Long on fourth-and-20 with two minutes left in the first half. The play resulted in a roughing the kicker penalty and allowed Los Angeles to continue their drive, which ultimately ended in a missed 44-yard field goal.

Fassel's decision was a head-scratcher at the time, but his justification for the untimely call was even more bizarre.
“The thought process was I think Cowboys fans aren’t the play-it-safe type,” Fassel said in Monday's news conference. “So I was going to give them what they wanted, come after [them] on the punt rush. So I hope they’re happy with it. We came after him. [That’s] kind of the mindset going into the game: We’re going to come after this football. But I’m still not so sure we actually roughed him.”
Jones was asked for his take on Fassel's decision Tuesday morning on 105.3 The Fan and equated those types of penalties to turnovers.
“I'm a little more conservative. We won the national championship when I was on the special teams in college (at Arkansas), so I'm (very interested in special teams)," Jones said on Shan and RJ. "I do believe that the turnovers are the bad plays in the kicking game (and) are the equivalent of turnovers. They usually change possession and can change field position. I really like to choose my spots on taking those kind of risks. You’re taking a risk every time you try to block a punt and getting the ball back."
Jones went on to say that he believes the special teams unit will "find its way going forward."
He better hope so because Cowboys fans have seen nothing but special teams miscues throughout the team's first two games, and they sure aren't happy about it.
