Kumar Rocker to make MLB debut for Rangers vs. Mariners

Hold on to your butts, Rangers fans. Kumar Rocker is coming.

The Texas Rangers announced Monday that they are calling up their top pitching prospect and the fireballer will make his big-league debut Thursday against the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park.

Rocker has been absolutely dominant in his seven starts between Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock after a 14-month layoff due to elbow surgery. The right-hander compiled a 0.91 ERA, struck out 47 hitters, and walked just three in 29 2/3 innings.

Rocker, 24, is the Rangers' No. 2 prospect and No. 97 overall, according to MLB Pipeline.
