(SportsRadio 610) - The Texans' offense stagnated after the first drive of the game, when they scored their only touchdown.

Rookie quarterback Davis Mills was making his seventh NFL career start, but his first since being named the starter for the remainder of the season.

Mills responded well, completing his first 14 pass attempts, which set a franchise record and was the most consecutive completions for a rookie to start a game since 1991.

Yet the offense as a unit continues to struggle as the league's worst.

Mills joined Sean Pendergast and Clint Stoerner on the Texans postgame show following their 33-13 loss to the Seahawks. They talked about his progression as a rookie quarterback, what's different since retaking the job from veteran Tyrod Taylor, and the value of still competing in "garbage time."

"I think the biggest thing is just growing in knowledge and chemistry with the guys around me," Mills said. "First, knowledge just going back there and being able to get through progressions fast and then just being able to see what the defense is giving me and react to it, rather than having to think and kind of guess where I'm going to end up.

"And then just letting it rip, the chemistry with the guys around me, more reps. We've had a lot more practice time. I'm able to anticipate how those guys are going to treat certain looks and certain coverages and just really know where they're going to end up."
