DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Newly acquired Dallas Mavericks sharp-shooter J.J. Redick seems to be on the verge of joining the team, with the 37-year-old planning to practice with the team for the first time on Saturday.
Redick announced his intention to return to the practice court on his Podcast The Old Man and the Three on Friday.
“I’ve been able to ramp up some of my on-court activities. Today (Friday), is an off day for the team and for me. I am planning on practicing tomorrow (Saturday). We’ll see how it goes. I am expecting tomorrow to be able to do some stuff 5-on-5 and some stuff live. It will be my first time doing that.”
Redick has yet to see the court for the Mavericks, and has been out since early march with a heel injury. Redick, however, is hopeful that he will be able to make his debut for the Mavericks sooner, rather than later.
Said Redick: “Hopefully in the next couple games I’ll be available to play."
In the 15 games before his injury, Redick had been on a torrid shooting pace, hitting 46-percent from three over that stretch.
