HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- Veteran relievers Phil Maton and Will Smith were left off the Astros 26-man ALDS roster, while rookie Hunter Brown made it, the team announced Tuesday afternoon.

The veteran Maton allowed one run in 12.1 innings during the Astros 2021 World Series and compiled a 3.84 ERA in 67 games out of the Astros bullpen this season, but he allowed runs in three of his final four outing of the regular season.

The omission of Smith leaves the Astros without a lefty in the bullpen. Acquired from the Braves before the trade deadline, Smith appeared in 24 games with the Astros, finishing with a 3.27 ERA in 22 innings with 24 strikeouts and four walks. He did not allow a run while in 11 games during the Braves 2022 World Series run.

Brown allowed two runs in 20.1 since making his Major League debut last month. He has not allowed a run in five bullpen appearances.

The Astros will carry 14 position players as David Hensley, Jake Meyers, and Mauricio Dubón made the team.
